Time for a little bit of LIGHTNING (talks)
December 12, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
December is all about you, your ideas, and what you are passionate about. Come out and join us for what is sure to be both a fun and interesting night filled with a wide diversity of topics from people just like you.
A lightning talk is a short 5-minute talk, with or without slides, on a topic you are passionate about, it could even just be a new idea that you’d like to share. It doesn’t have to be database related, though tie-ins are certainly encouraged.
Lightning talks aren’t difficult and are a great way to “break-the-ice” of speaking in front of a crowd. We’ve had talks from just about all ages from 7 (programmable robots), to 84 (lifelong learning). We hope you’ll come out and share.
Claim a speaker slot on the forum, or in a comment on this post. We’ll limit the slots to 15, so stake your claim early so you don’t get left out. If your plans do change later be sure to let us know so we can free up your slot.
Talks will be recorded and published to our Youtube channel; we can exclude a talk from the recording at the speaker’s option.
You don’t have to declare your topic now. We’ll also be shuffling the order of the slots, so the first person to sign up won’t necessarily be the first to speak.
Want to get a better sense of Lightning Talks, here are the ones from Code Daze:

Davis Hall is on White Rd, not far from the Bookstore. The Jarvis B lot is just across the road. No parking permit is required after 3PM.
Continuing Sponsors are Stark and Wayne (https://starkandwayne.com/) and Engine Yard (https://www.engineyard.com/). We will continue our tradition of light refreshments at 7:00 with the presentation at 7:15.
